The Shimano Curado DC continues the tradition of durability and versatility with the addition of Shimano’s innovative Digital Control (DC) braking system. This technology employs a microcomputer that monitors spool speed 1,000 times per second, delivering precise braking to eliminate backlash and enhance casting distance. Suitable for anglers at any skill level, it minimizes the need for thumb control and ensures smooth, reliable casting performance in all conditions. The Curado DC offers expert-level control and dependability for a superior fishing experience.

How to Choose Your Reel
RIGHT HAND or LEFT HAND?
- number end with "0": right hand
- number end with "1": left hand
150 or 200?
- 150/151: If you're fishing with standard lures, mostly bass or medium-sized fish, and want a lighter, more nimble reel.
- 200/201: If you often fish heavy cover, throw larger swimbaits, or use thicker braided line, the extra capacity and size help.
What is Gear Ratio?
6.2:1 (Standard/Moderate Speed)
- Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits
More torque, easier to handle resistance, good bottom contact
Beginners or all-purpose anglers
7.4:1 (High Speed)
- Texas rigs, topwater, soft plastics, jerkbaits
Fast line pickup, better reaction control, efficient casting
Intermediate/advanced anglers with a faster pace
8.5:1 (Extra High Speed)
- Pitching/flipping, jigs, cover fishing
Super fast retrieve for quick hooksets and repositioning
Less torque, not ideal for heavy-resistance lures
If You’re Buying Multiple Reels
- 1 reel: Go with 7.4:1 for all-around performance.
- 2 reels: Get a 6.2:1 and an 8.5:1 to cover slow and fast techniques.
- 3 reels or more: Consider owning all three ratios to fully optimize for technique-specific fishing.
