Description
The 2025 Complex XR is designed for anglers who demand effortless control over light tackle, with performance upgrades tailored for freshwater lure fishing.
Featuring INFINITYDRIVE, it reduces friction in the drive system for powerful yet smooth winding, while INFINITYXROSS enhances gear durability for long-term reliability. The innovative ANTI-TWIST FIN helps minimize line wrapping at the line roller, improving casting consistency and reducing tangles.
With a rotor that starts and stops instantly with minimal effort, the Complex XR delivers a light, responsive winding feel without sacrificing sensitivity. Each size is fine-tuned with an optimal drag setting, reflecting Shimano’s attention to detail for dedicated freshwater anglers.
Whether you’re targeting bass, trout, or other freshwater species, the Complex XR 2025 offers a refined, responsive, and highly controllable fishing experience.

    How to Choose Your Reel
Quick Rule of Thumb
- Freshwater bass, all-around use: 2500 or 3000
 - Finesse only: 1000–2000
 - Light saltwater: 3000–4000
 - Heavy salt/surf: 5000+

Understand the Spool Size Numbers
- 500–1000 Ultra-light: trout, panfish, finesse bass
 - 2000–2500 Light freshwater: bass finesse, walleye
 - 3000 All-around bass, inshore light saltwater
 - 4000 Larger freshwater species, inshore salt
 - 5000+ Monster level freshwater, Heavy saltwater, surf, big game

Consider Weight & Balance
- Light rod + heavy reel = tip-up feel (tiring for finesse work)
 - Heavy rod + small reel = tip-heavy feel (bad for balance and casting comfort)
 - Usually, 2500–3000 balances well on a 6’6”–7’ medium or medium-light rod.
